THE GAPX DIFFERENCE
Cross-subsidisation and commissions drive up the price of medical gap cover putting more pressure on medical
aid members trying to protect themselves from rising healthcare costs. We want to change this by removing
commissions paid to brokers and cross-subsidisation from young to old.
The difference with GapX is that premiums are determined by the age of each person insured and the size of the family covered. Traditionally there has been a one-size-fits- all approach to premiums by grouping together policyholders in broad groups for individuals/families/pensioners. This impacts young individuals and families the most who have to pay more than their fair share in order to subsidise older individuals and larger families.

PREMIUMS
Unlike other Gap Cover providers, GapX doesn’t provide premiums for individuals and families, but offers
a premium per insured dependant based on the age of the insured. This ensures the best possible rates
for younger individuals and smaller families. All policies have one Principle and can add Dependants to
the policy where there is insurable interest.
All dependants must be on the same option as the Principle.
Premiums are inclusive of VAT and payable monthly in advance. Premiums increase annually and you will receive minimum 31 days notice prior to an increase.
